Now, for indie of a decidedly less deep-fried variety, Bon Iver won’t claw at the deep and dark corners of your soul like Murder By Death does, but he’s still just as thought-provoking and sonically complex. With his signature delicate and ethereal style, frontman and mastermind Justin Vernon does the minimalist indie approach so good you’d swear the Wisconsin native was a card-carrying Silver Lake resident. It’s admittedly still a little weird that everyone is picking up what Vernon is putting down these days, but at the very least I can look at the rows of music magazines on newsstands and feel at least one less part of my soul die when I see him there.
