Conversations in Place 2013
“The Nature of Place: From the Rancho to the New Urban Scene – When Ordinary Becomes Extraordinary,” will examine the value of ordinary places within a region, state, and people defined by iconic, extraordinary imagery. Christopher Hawthorne, the noted Los Angeles Times architecture critic known for his engaging assessments of architecture and the re-emerging urban value of the city and region from mass transit and highways to planning, housing, neighborhoods and communities, will address the topic in conversation with co-speaker D.J. Waldie and moderator Claudia Jurmain.
