Kim Richmond Concert Jazz Orchestra Tribute to Stan Kenton

The Grammy-nominated act celebrates the release of their latest CD, Artistry, a tribute to legendary Big Band leader Stan Kenton. Led by saxophone soloist/composer/arranger Kim Richmond, the 23-piece orchestra, combining the sounds of large ensemble jazz with symphonic colors and textures, features expansive instrumentation that includes five woodwinds, four trumpets, three tenor trombones, two French horns, Latin percussion and more. The evening of free-swinging improvisation pays tribute to legendary jazz figure Stan Kenton and his Neophonic Orchestra with “Kentonesque” jazz and Latin-style compositions - the size and scope of the master’s kinetic orchestration, rightfully known to music historians as the original “Wall of Sound.”
