USC Football vs. Stanford

Two football lettermen have won Olympic gold medals: Fred Kelly (1914,15,16) in the high hurdles in the 1912 Games (he is USC’s first gold medalist) and Ken Carpenter (1934,37) in the discus in the 1936 Games. Although 2-time gold medalist Quincy Watts (400 meters and 1600 meter relay in the 1992 Olympics) never lettered in football, he was a receiver on the 1990 Trojans (he didn’t get into a game).
