Victor Friedman: Captured & Constructed
Exhibiting for the first time in Los Angeles, FaraciArt presents Captured & Constructed a unique view into the 40+ year career of critically-acclaimed New York photographer, Victor Friedman. Through three varied collections Friedman invites the viewer to participate in an experience: New York Street Scenes captures the tenacity found on the streets of Brooklyn, Greenwich Village and Long Island. In a recent review, critic Virginia Smith suggests “Friedman fits in the tradition of Walker Evans, now dubbed the ‘dean of American documentary,’ and he shares a kind of perception with the New York photographer Helen Levitt.” Friedman creates portals into another time and place, documenting the American life in 1960 through 1980s New York.
