As a college student, are you tired of studying in boring libraries or the crowded Starbucks near campus?

From my experience, a great dessert place with a suitable studying atmosphere is 10 times better than either of those previous options.

Here are five places in L.A. where you can bring your books…and your sweet tooth!

Yellow House Café
234 S. Oxford Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90004

Yellow House Café is known for its cozy, cute ambience and yummy deserts. The first floor, which is quieter than other areas, is great for studying by yourself. The second floor provides good-sized tables for group studying and discussions. The backyard is beautifully decorated with heating lamps and is the most aesthetically appealing dining area in the house – the perfect place to spend your whole day. The sweet potato latte is a top recommendation, with its texture that’s thicker than a typical coffee drink. You can also enjoy a gooey s’more while reading your textbooks (just make sure you don’t get any marshmallows on the pages!).

Bricks & Scones
403 N. Larchmont Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90004

Studying in Bricks & Scones can seriously take away all of your stress. This designated study place is well decorated and has many seating options. The first floor is a little bit dim, but the second is very bright. Stepping into Bricks & Stones slightly feels like stepping into a library or an old bookstore; however, the outside resembles a beautiful garden surrounded with eye-pleasing greenery and positive energy. Here, they play soft, relaxing music, which keeps you focused and more efficient. And of course, the food -- the scones are equally delicious and pretty, with different flavors, fruits and nuts inside. They’re perfect paired with a cup of coffee or tea.

Syrup Desserts
611 S. Spring Street
Los Angeles, CA 90014

Syrup Desserts is a wonderful study-friendly spot, with a superb selection of desserts. The lounge upstairs has adorable couches that offer you personal space without isolating yourself too much. The music is never distracting, and you’ll always catch a good number of people with their books and laptops open. Everything on the menu is reasonably price, but I suggest the waffles; they’re thick, dense, crisp and chewy, and come in a variety of creative flavors. Plus, the portions are big enough to share!

Loft Café
3882 W. 6th Street
Los Angeles, CA 90020

Loft Café has the perfect setting for studying. When you walk inside, you will see everyone on his or her laptop or reading a book. It never gets too loud, and there's a nice, quiet atmosphere. This café provides various drinks and treats: coffee, tea, waffles with fruit and ice cream, triple berry cake and more. Don’t forget to get free coffee refills to keep your energy going while you study.

Haus Dessert Boutique
3826 W. 6th Street
Los Angeles, CA 90020

Haus Dessert Boutique’s interior is nice and cozy, with couches and cushions perfect for reading, writing or having a group discussion without getting a sore back. This place is known for its desserts, such as its macaroons, sweet crepes, waffles, cheesecake and shaved ice. Definitely try the crème brulee cheesecake and the caramel banana waffle.
