For those whose only knowledge of Aeon Flux is from the live-action film, you owe it to yourself to watch the original MTV animated series. Despite the short run, the series features beautiful, fluid animation with some of the most twisted storytelling ever drawn.
Assuming you don’t mind the smaller screen, the two-disk PSP UMD version of the series offers all of the lust/hate-fueled destruction, including the original shorts. Unfortunately, the nuanced animation and subtle visuals are also the biggest argument against purchasing the UMDs.
Considering how much of the story is told through meaningful gestures and eye contact, the PSP’s small screen and emphasis on entertainment-on-the-go does not fit the content well.
