I have a couple in mind, and I don’t want to have to choose. I love going to this place Katsu-Ya (16542 Ventura Blvd.,?Encino). You’ve probably heard of it, but I go to the one in Encino because it’s less crowded than the others.

And also a really romantic, fun place to go for a nice dinner or dessert is this bar called Firefly (11720 Ventura Blvd., Studio City). It has a really cool atmosphere. It’s got a swanky little dark bar/lounge thing happening. Yeah, it’s really cute.

Movies

For movies, I definitely like the ArcLight Sherman Oaks (15301 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks). It’s a gorgeous theater – accept no substitutes.

Bars

There are a couple of really great bars that are kind of little holes-in-the-wall. There’s one called the Chimney Sweep (4354 Woodman Ave., Sherman Oaks) and Pineapple Hill (4454 Van Nuys Blvd., Ste N., Sherman Oaks) is amazing, that’s a given.

There is a new one that just got re-modeled. It used to be the Green Frog, I don’t know what it’s called now, maybe it’s still the Green Frog (13625 Moorpark St., Sherman Oaks). There used to be a bar I used to go to all the time on Ventura called Sapphire, but it’s no longer there.

Sportsmen’s Lodge (12825 Ventura Blvd.,?Studio City) on a Friday night is always amusing. There’s a band that you can see every Friday night, and it’s amazing. It’s called Jusstuss, and they’re the best cover band you’ve ever heard.

This guy has super-long hair, and he performs with his little cute wife, or something, they look like they are straight out of the early ’80s. It’s a really, really crazy scene there. They play everything, and it’s a very interesting crowd that goes there, but it’s worth seeing cause it’s funny, too.

The crowd is like a mixture of, I don’t even know how to describe it, it’s a little older, kind of, you walk in there and you feel like you’re in another time. You feel like you’re in the ’80s and that you’re not in L.A., that you’re in some small town in Montana or something. It’s kind of timeless there.
