In order to kick off Oscar week (the Academy Awards air at 5 p.m. PST on Sunday
evening, March 5), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is holding
a special event showcasing this year’s 10 Oscar-nominated films in the Animated
Short and Live-Action Short categories.
"Shorts!" will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28 at
the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, in Beverly Hills. Aside from solely
screenings, "Shorts!" will also feature on-stage discussions with the
animated and live-action nominated filmmakers; definite attendees are still to
be determined.
Screening as part of the "Shorts!" fest in the animated category are:
Badgered, The Moon and the Son: An Imagined Conversation, The Mysterious Geographic
Explorations of Jasper Morello, 9 and One Man Band.
Films in the live-action category that will be screened are: Ausreisser (The Runaway),
Cashback, The Last Farm, Our Time is Up and Six Shooter.
Tickets to "Shorts!" are currently sold-out. However, stand-by tickets
will be available at the door on the day of the event.
The Samuel Goldwyn Theater is located at 8949 Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills.
