"The Glory of Easter" is once again returning to the Crystal Cathedral for its 2006 performance run. Celebrating more than two decades, the production will perform nightly in the all-glass cathedral for an exclusive two-week run.

The theatrical performance recreates the story of Passion Week including the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, Jesus cleansing the temple, the Last Supper, the trial, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension. With state-of-the-art special effects the production includes live animals, flying angels and a soundtrack recorded by London Symphony and Seattle Symphony Orchestras. Eight trumpeters and four drummers play live from the balconies every show.

The Easter pageant is famous for its lifelike recreations of earthquakes, thunderstorms and lightning inside the glass cathedral.

"The Glory of Easter" is comprised of more than 200 volunteer and professional actors who portray biblical figures such as Jesus, Pilate, Mary Magdalene, Herod, Mary and others. Each volunteer dedicates more than 160 hours to the production.

Animals play an integral part in the massive production and parading down the aisles are live donkeys, horses, water buffalo, camels, lamas, piglets, miniature burrows, peacocks, sheep and goats. The sides of the amazing cathedral open up and allow passage for the livestock to trample through.

The production also boasts one of the largest sets in the world consisting of five miles of steel undergriding, spanning 124 feet across and 80 feet high. Each year the preparation for the play takes an entire month and includes installing lights, installing the angel track as well as set construction.

"The Glory of Easter" premiered in the Crystal Cathedral in 1984 and has been gracing audiences annually since then. The production has been seen by millions nationwide either by attending the event live or through special televised events.

The show is perfect to take your parents, family and friends to if you are looking for a unique way to celebrate Easter together.
