La Bohème
Four young artists live in poverty together in a Paris garret, circa 1830. One of them, Rodolfo, falls in love with his neighbor Mimi, a fragile seamstress. Another, Marcello, is engaged in a tumultuous on-again off-again relationship with Musetta, who has been attaching herself to wealthier men. Despite their poverty, the young people try to live their lives to the fullest. When Rodolfo realizes that Mimi is slowly dying of tuberculosis, he breaks off the relationship so that she can find someone truly able to take care of her. When she does so, he realizes that his life is now empty. The two pairs of lovers are tragically reunited when Musetta finds Mimi gravely ill, and brings her to the garret for one last reunion with Rodolfo before her death.
