LA River Boat Race

Kayak, canoe or paddleboard your way into local history books when you shoot the rapids, round the buoys and sprint to the finish in this first-ever event of its kind! The course tests contestants in speed, strength, endurance and water craft control. One hundred experienced and intermediate canoeists, kayakers and SUPers will tackle a 3/4-mile stretch of the Glendale Narrows in a race for glory (and cool T-shirts and swag). Contestants compete in various age- and skill-level categories for awards and other prizes. The LA River Boat Race course (which includes the LA River Kayak Race and the LA River SUP Challenge) cuts through the newly opened Recreational Zone in the lovely Elysian Valley, one of the greenest sections of the river.
