The National Ballet of Canada: Romeo & Juliet

To celebrate The National Ballet of Canada’s 60th anniversary in 2011, Artistic Director Karen Kain commissioned internationally celebrated choreographer Alexei Ratmansky to create a new production of Romeo and Juliet. Rapturously received at its premiere the production was hailed a “new modern classic” by Toronto’s National Post. Totally fresh and brilliantly imagined, this new staging blends classical vocabulary with an intensely contemporary emotional edge to create an unforgettable version of one of the greatest dance dramas ever.
