Los Angeles Int'l Flamenco Festival: Sonidos Gitanos

Los Angeles Int'l Flamenco Festival: Sonidos Gitanos

Led by Maria Bermudez and Sonidos Gitanos, this company of Flamenco guitarists, singers and dancers from Spain's Jerez de la Frontera, the "birthplace of Flamenco," will bring to the U.S. this amazing art form in its most authentic, compelling and vibrant form. Maria Bermudez, the founder of the company and its artistic director, has spent the past two decades sharing the stage with some of Flamenco's finest artists performing on the stages of many prominent venues. The Los Angeles Times wrote, "A sense of community is one of the great joys of Sonidos Gitanos/Gypsy Flamenco....As always, the dancing was led by Maria Bermudez, an artist capable of focusing on complex percussive heelwork in one passage, powerful emotional projection in another and then throwing it all away in glorious idiosyncratic outbursts...."
