Them Crooked Vultures

I’m pretty sure I’ve more than adequately sang both Josh Homme and Dave Grohl’s praises in the various sections of our fine paper over the years … so why not stroke their egos a little more, right? Grohl has been shaping the course of the music industry for almost two decades now and is easily one of the most engaging frontmen to ever take a stage, while Queens of the Stone Age frontman Homme has been doing his part to bring sexy back to rock ’n’ roll for some time now.
John Paul Jones, the final member of the trifecta, has somehow yet to come up in our pages. I know, crazy, right? You’d think that given my flawless and amazing taste in music, I’d have mentioned Zeppelin in some form or another, but alas, I have not. Here’s proof that I too, dear readers, am human. All three of these musicians are iconic by themselves and with their respective bands, but put them together and they’re an entirely different beast. Still showcasing the distinctive styles, Vultures are three guys who are infinitely more than the proverbial sum of the parts. One might not think so looking at them, but the threesome can capture the essence of soulful, blues-y rock like purebred southern boys. But then, they could probably start a reggae band and sound like they were born and raised on the beaches of Jamaica. - Brien Overly
