Too Fast For Love Tour w/ 3OH!3 and Cobra Starship
Clearly, the theme for this week’s Frequency is reluctant recanting of previous disparaging commentary. I know I talk a good amount of smack about this band and give them a hard time when referencing some of their synth-pop-punk-idon’tevenknowanymore genre-mates, but I’ll be real with you about this. Say what you will about Cobra Starship’s music or whom they associate with, frontman Gabe Saporta can work a stage like nobody’s business. With his signature schmoozy, slightly booze-y charisma, Saporta is the undisputed king of audience interaction in this genre of music. While some of their recent music is not my favorite section of the band’s work, the band’s first two records are legitimate jam-session-in-the-car albums. As much as I detest members of the “Gossip Girl” cast being in any way involved with the real world music industry – ahem, not to point the finger or anything – the band’s pre-celebrity work is of the highest danceable caliber. - Brien Overly
