Dan Black
Now, in the chance you don’t have the same misanthropic sense of humor or appreciation of schadenfreude as myself, there is an actual legit show happening the same night as the aforementioned one. And it’s 100 percent less rage inducing. On the contrary, the London-bred Black’s sing-along vocal melodies and epic jam-session beats can make all your frustration melt away. Whether howling out a club-worthy dance anthem or crooning over orchestral low-fi garage rock, Black’s songs are infectious, emotive and memorable. Most artists would struggle to attain one of those adjectives, while Black seems to have mastered all three. Also, Wikipedia tells me he falls under the genre of “wonky pop,” which I wasn’t aware was a legitimately coined genre, and which only makes him that much more awesome. Consider my writing style officially defined as “wonky journalism” from now on, please and thank you. - Brien Overly
