Soundgasm @ Vine
It's really hard to define what a soundgasm feels
like. One can only imagin that as the beats pulsate throughout your
body the only reaction that'll be screamed out will be something akin
to that Meg Ryan and that infamous scene in When Harry met Sally. Though it'd
be best to not do that in the club, but rather dance the night away as
both Anton Newcombe from trippy rock act The Brian Jonestown Massacre,
and Jason Anchando of The Warlocks create a happy go looking vibe, not
normally see in Hollywood. Vine is located at 1235 North Vine Street in
Hollywood. For more information call 323-960-0800

Volver/Pans Labyrinth @
Aero Theatre
A double feature of the highest order will be
presented at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica. In correlation with
their Golden Globe nominations for best foreign language both Volver
and Pan's Labyrinth will be screened. The former is another Pedro
Almodovar masterpiece filled with the director's trademarks: black
comedy and catty women. The latter is another look into the brilliant
but twisted mind of director Guillermo del Toro as fascist Spain meets
mythic creatures. A special treat is in store as both Almodovar and del
Toro will be in attendance for a bit of the good ole' Q&A. Aero
Theatre is located at 1328 Montana Avenue at 14th Street in Santa
Monica. For more information visit http:

Neurosis @ El Rey
Theatre
Neurosis is all about the dark ambient, industrial,
tribal music that's hits like a flung piece of sludge to the face.
Based out of Oakland, Calif the band is dubbed as the originator of the
post-metal genre. With a new album set for 2007 the band looks to bring
a new year's music resolution of thrash. Be prepared to throw down in
the pit during Saturday's show, something that usually doesn't occur in
the El Rey Theatre. El Rey Theatre is located at 5515 Wilshire
Boulevard in Los Angeles. For more information visit www.theelrey.com.

Where We Live: Berman Collection @ Getty Center
Created in 1984, the Getty Museum's photographs
department has been a showcase for American and European private
collections, none more than film producer Bruce Berman. Berman has
donated over 500 photographs to the Getty since 1998, most of which is
contemporary American color photography. In a new exhibit called Where
We Live: Berman Collection the work of 24 photographers will be shown,
the central theme being life in the United States. Getty Center is
located at 1200 Getty Center Drive in Los Angeles. For more information
visit www.getty.edu.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Miami Heat @ Staples Center
Last time the Lakers faced the Miami Heat it was
another Christmas Day lost. The Lakers look to get revenge on the Heat,
the stage now set in Los Angeles. And while it's going to be
disappointing to not see another Shaq vs. Kobe showdown (the big man
sidelined due to injury) nothing can beat the face to face match up
with #24 and #3 (Dwayne Wade). Flash bulbs will be a blazin' and eyes
will glued no doubt on TV sets. Staples Center is located at 1111
South Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. For more information visit www.lakers.com.

Eddie Pepitone: End of Days & Please Seat
Yourself @ UCB Theatre
The double feature continues this time in the form
of improvised sketch comedy at the UCB Theatre. Eddie Pepitone: End of
Days is not a look back at the Arnold Schwarzenegger film but rather a
comedic journey into the post apocalyptic journey through Los Angeles
which includes a little bit of motivational speaking courtesy of the
last woman on Earth. Though not about the big one, Please Seat Yourself
is all about the big dish, serving up sketches set in the restaurant.
The show is filled with love, murder and the occasional egg roll. UCB
Theatre is located at 5919 Franklin Avenue in Los Angeles. For more
information visit www.ucbtheatre.com/la.
