What’s Happening in Los Angeles

 Thursday, Feb. 15
Los Angeles Lakers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers @ Staples Center
Anytime Lebron James makes an appearance at the Staples Center you know it's going to be a show. Add Kobe Bryant into the mix and it's going to be a showdown for the thousands in attendance. This match-up will be a feast for the ages, as these two air predecessor's of Mr. NO. 23 (Michael Jordan) will be a highlight filled with all things flight and fancy. Staples Center is located at 1111 South Figueroa St. in Los Angeles. For more information visit www.lakers.com.

Friday, Feb. 16
The Glass Menagerie @ Pacific Resident Theatre
Premiering on Dec. 26, 1944, “The Glass Menagerie” was playwright Tennessee Williams' first successful play, making him one of the most revered playwrights in American theater. The play set in St. Louis, MO deals with the troubling relationships of the Wingfield's: mother Amanda Wingfield, strong headed Tom and painfully shy Laura whose glass menagerie, most notably that of her unicorn figurine, symbolizes her very frail mindset. Suggested donation is $12. Pacific Resident Theatre is located at 703 Venice Blvd. in Venice. For more information visit http: //www.pacificresidenttheatre.com/

Saturday, Feb. 17
Made/Swingers @ Aero Theatre
If ever you've been in a room full of your best buds just playing videogames, you might've heard the immortal phrase “you're money.” The line spit out by Vince Vaughn's character Trent in the film Swingers is one of the classic comic performances from the mid-90s. Swingers may be a laugh riot of just out of work actors struggling in L.A. but Made, which also stars Vaughn and actor Jon Favreau, might be even funnier. An underappreciated film in this early decade, the film showcases both actors' amazing chemistry together as they are sent to help in the delivery for a money laundering scheme. Aero Theatre is located at 1328 Montana Avenue at 14th St. in Santa Monica. For more information visit http: //www.egyptiantheatre.com/Aero/aeromastercalendar.htm

Sunday, Feb. 18
Kinky Karaoke Night @ Lava Lounge
Normally we do karaoke in the front of our families at birthday parties or in a private room with our select friends but doing so much as performing kinky karaoke well… that's a bit different. Luckily, the only thing kinky during this Sunday night Lava Lounge hangout will be the songs. Under the backdrop of a tiki set, which would in a sense look like a Gilligan's Island version of American idols, the few, the proud, the karaoke faithful will sing any number of show tunes, '80s classics, or '60s revival hits. Lava Lounge is located at 1533 North La Brea Ave. in Hollywood. For more information visit http://www.lavahollywood.com/

Grizzly Bear @ Troubadour
The sprawling layers of acoustics and atmosphere courtesy of Grizzly Bear are going to fill the tiny Troubadour Wednesday night. The Brooklyn band's second record (their first solely as a group) Yellow House was one of the most critically acclaimed records of last year. Songs off the record like the sublime “Knife” and “Lullaby” will stick with its normal arrangements but look for a fresh new take on other songs were a more rock oriented sound will emit from the fearsome foursome. Troubadour is located at 9081 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood. For more information visit www.troubadour.com.
