ANAHEIM ANGELS VS. BALTIMORE ORIOLES @ Angels Stadium
Already with a six game losing streak to this season’s record and some less-than-stellar stats, the L.A. Angels are poised for a nice comeback.  Starting on Friday they take on the Baltimore Orioles, an equally weak team.  With equal stats, the Angels should be able to pull off some wins to help boost their standing in the A.L West race.  Game One starts at 7:05pm at Angels Stadium.  Tickets range from $12-$110.  Angles stadium is located at 2000 E Gene Autry Way in Anaheim. For more info, visit angels.mlb.com

CONTROLLING THE FAMOUS @ Knitting Factory
Post-hardcore, indie band Controlling the Famous takes over the stage at Hollywood’s Knitting Factory this Saturday. With musical influences like Minus the Bear and cornerstone punk band Fugazi, CTF promises a pretension-free performance complete with heavier grooves and searing lyrics.  The performance is also a reunion show with headliners the Smoking Popes. Show starts at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $13 at the door.  The Knitting Factory is located at 7021 Hollywood Blvd. For additional information and directions, call (323) 463 0204 or visit www.knittingfactory.com

 Sunday, May 28
THE NEW AMSTERDAMS @ Chain Reaction
Their new album Story Like A Scar puts the Kansas natives in line as the next big thing under Vagrant Records, the home of powerhouses like the Get Up Kids, Dashboard Confessional and Saves The Day.   Lyricist Matt Pryor actually fronted The Get Up Kids until the band’s dissolution in 2005.  Following up their last album Worse For the Wear, the show at Chain Reaction should prove The New Amsterdam’s inscription into indie-pop-punk-roots-music infamy.  Chain Reaction is located at 1652 W Lincoln Ave. in Anaheim.  For more info, call (714) 635 6067 or visist www.allages.com.

Monday, May 29
