In its ninth year, Shakespeare By The Sea presents “Hamlet” and “The Comedy of Errors” starting today and continuing through the July 15 in Point Fermin Park.  The show is free and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics. The Park is located at 807 Paseo Del Mar in San Pedro.

THE TUBES @ Coach House
Based out of San Francisco in the 1970s, the Tubes are a theater-rock band with their own oddball quality, notably lead singer Fee Waybill’s penchant for wild theatrics that border schizophrenic.  Anticipate full-fledged production numbers instead of a simple rock show.  The Tubes are playing at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano.  Tickets are $25 dollars on www.ticketmaster.com.  The Coach House is located at 33157 Camino Capistrano Road. The show starts at 8 p.m.

NEON CRUISE @ Neon Museum
So it’s a tourist thing. So what? Every Saturday, the Museum of Neon Art (MONA) hosts the Neon Cruise, a three-hour drive through Los Angeles touring the city’s historic neon signs.  Cruisers load into a double-decker bus for a night of tongue-in-cheek narration, local lore, and of course, neon.  The tour is from 7:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m.  Tickets range from $35-45 depending on membership.  For more information, go to www.neonmona.org.  MONA is located at 501 W. CLASSIC ROCK FESTIVAL III @ Libbey Bowl
The two-day music festival features a handful of cover bands all paying tribute to classic rock heavyweights like Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimi Hendrix and The Who.  Hendrix’s original keyboardist Melvin Seals headlines the Festival.  All proceeds benefit RageJax, a foundation that works to bring the arts to under-privileged children.  The Festival is held at downtown Ojai’s Libbey Bowl.  Gates open both days at 11a.m. and shows start at noon.  Tickets are $25/day or $45 for a a two-day pass.  Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or at any local Ojai retailer. NEW JERSY TRILOGY @ Arclight Cinemas
The Arclight Cinemas is showing a full evening of Kevin Smith. TAKING THE JESUS PILL @ Sawdust Fairgrounds
Southern gothic rock opera.  The only way to understand what in the hell that means is to see “Taking the Jesus Pill,” Charlie Terrell’s latest party on stage.  Part blues and part burlesque, the musical focuses on a deformed stripper with a heart of gold and dreamy antihero Johnny 3:16.   Expect femme fatales, Jack Daniels, and goth rockers to mingle in the audience.  “Taking the Jesus Pill” plays every Wednesday at Hollywood club, King King.
