What’s Happening in Los Angeles

Friday Oct. 13
Halloween Horror Nights @ Universal Studios Hollywood
It’s Friday the 13th, so you better not be just fiddling your thumbs watching an entire TV marathon of The Munsters. Unleash that inner ghoul inside of you and vamp your way down to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood. Experience for the first time, the park open after dark. Engage in all things cinematic scary with mazes, an attraction known simply as the Carnival of Carnage and by all means dance till the bleak twilight with “The Mutaytor.” Universal Studios Hollywood is located at 100 Universal City Plaza in Universal City. For more information visit www.halloweenhorrornights.com

Saturday Oct. 14
Bamboozle Left @ Cal Poly Pomona Athletic Field
Cal Poly Pomona will definitely be rocking on Saturday.  No studying here just a good educational lesson on the finer things of rock. Teachers in session include Sugarcult, Halifax, Sam Jackson’s favorite band Cobra Starship and headliners Dashboard Confessional.  It’s a straight up music bamboozle, hitting the senses left and right (probably the former rather than the latter) Tickets are available at thebamboozleleft.ducatking.com. The Cal Poly Pomona Athletic Field is located at 3801 West Temple Avenue in Pomona. For more information visit www.bamboozleleft.com.

Sunday Oct. 15
Beat It @ The Ruby
Make like that Michael Jackson song from the ‘80s and head on over to The Ruby, one of the premier Hollywood hot spots. A three room extravaganza, the main room plays the best of new wave pop, most notably from our favorite dance era the 80s. Side rooms play the finest of indie rock and crunkiest of hip hop jams. And don’t fret because this is a Hollywood club only allowing 21 and over, Beat It is 18 and over. The Ruby is located at 7070 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. For more information call 323-467-7070

Monday Oct. 16
Los Angeles KingS vs. Detroit Redwings @ Staples Center
Can you smell it? Yep, its back. Kings hockey has returned in the city of Los Angeles and we Angelinos are ready for it, considering our home baseball team is out of the playoffs and our Lakers have won’t set foot on the court for months. And what better to start of the season then with a showdown with rivals the Detroit Redwings. Hockey season is back, take pleasure in the warmth of freezing temperatures. The Staples Center is located at 1111 S. Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. For more information visit www.lakings.com.

Tuesday Oct. 17
Doug Benson’s I Love Movies @ UCB Theatre
Everyone likes movies, but for comedian Doug Benson (The Best Week Ever) it’s a love affair. Join Doug and his special guests as they talk about the finer things of cinema dissecting some of the current films we see in our Cineplex. You’ll probably get a good laugh or two because it is a comedy show and frankly those film duds do need to be made fun of. This week’s guests include Paget Brewster and Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show). The UCB Theatre is located at 5919 Franklin Avenue in Hollywood. For more information visit www.ucbtheatre.com.

Wednesday, Oct. 18
