OUT ON A LEDGE: PHOTOGRAPHS OF A COMIC GENIUS FROM THE HAROLD LLOYD COLLECTION @ Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences
Harold Lloyd was a comic genius. You wouldn’t believe that an average looking man who wore large round glasses would be the same person that would crash cars, walk on construction girders and hang off clock towers. Lloyd dazzled movie audiences in the 1920s with his feats, the most classic of which will be featured in a new exhibit honoring the man. The exhibit features 100 photographs from Lloyd’s personal archive of production stills, behind-the-scenes shots and family photos.
Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences —Academy Gallery is located at 8949 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles. For more information visit www.oscars.org

DEATH OF A SALESMAN @ Odyssey Theatre
Since its premiere on Broadway in 1949, Arthur Miller’s “Death of A Salesman” has been a paramount for American theater. This crowning achievement looks at how one views the American Dream, a dream that can crumble easily at any instant. The name of Willy Loman will be etched into your brain, immediately after seeing the play. Highly recommended if you haven’t seen it already.  Odyssey Theatre is located at 2055 South Sepulveda Blvd. in Los Angeles. For more information visit www.odysseytheatre.com

Saturday, Nov. 25
CAT POWER AND THE MEMPHIS RHYTHM BAND @ Orpheum Theatre
Chan Marshall is the greatest. Otherwise known as her stage moniker Cat Power, Marshall lives up to the hype due to the success of her latest album release aptly named The Greatest. Backed by the Memphis Rhythm Band, a more mature and wider sound trickled out as a result. History has shown Marshall’s previous solo concert experiences being how do you say… bizarre, but Saturday’s nights show will be a different tune as Ms. Marshall will be backed by The Memphis Rhythm Band. Say goodbye to stage fright. Tickets are available via www.ticketmaster.com. The Orpheum Theatre is located at 842 South Broadway in Los Angeles.

Sunday, Nov. 26
HOLLYWOOD CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR @ Hollywood & Highland
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Get into the Christmas spirit early via the Hollywood Christmas Spectacular on Hollywood and Highland. The 2.5 mile parade starts off at Grauman’s Chinese stopping at Hollywood High. You’ll get it all: Santa Claus, snow, and celebrities. The parade will see two grand marshals for this event as George Lopez and Regis Philbin will be masters of ceremonies. MASQUERADE: ROLE PLAYING IN SELF-PORTRAITURE @ Los Angeles County Museum of Art
Thirty works from the LACMA’s permanent collection were drawn for Masquerade; Role Playing in Self-Portraiture, an intimate look at how pretending truly reveals who an artist is. In these portraits, the complete alteration of the subject will give a better glimpse at the photographer, showcasing his/her fictional self or in this case for this exhibition alone their “Other Selves.”  LACMA is located at 5905 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angles. For more information visit www.lacma.org

Tuesday, Nov. 28
INDUSTRY NIGHT @ The Standard
On Tuesday nights at Industry Night at The Standard, the mantra of being at the top of the Los Angeles elite is followed. Lush Entertainment wanted to use the space available to make it a breathing ground for models, artists or just beautiful people in general to drink and schmooze. Add in DJ Crash who’s previous work has seen him play from the Playboy Mansion to LAX, then it is more than likely to equate to a good ole’ hip time.  Feel up to the task, then join in.  The Standard is located at 8300 Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. For more information call (323) 650-9090

Wednesday, Nov. 29
Breaking and Entering @ Aero Theatre
Architecture. Local Gangs. Passion. Three words that usually don’t go together but the trio make up the foundation of director Anthony Minghella’s (The Talented Mr. Ripley) new film Breaking and Entering. The film, which stars Jude Law, tells of the story of an entrepreneur who runs a landscape architecture firm. Fed up by recent breaks in by a local gang, Will (Law) chases after one of the young gang members, Miro which in turn leads to the meeting of Amira (Juliette Binoche), the boy’s mother. As you can expect, romance ensues. Tonight’s screening is a sneak preview. Aero Theatre is located at 1328 Montana Ave. at 14 Street in Santa Monica.
