Lifted from the Volta tour, Björk’s Voltaic showcases the many sides of the Icelandic princess. The CD/DVD offers some of her visually stunning videos, as well as her appearances at some of the world’s biggest venues, including Coachella and the Apollo Theatre.

The key to enjoying this set is to keep in mind that this is a tribute to her epic live performances, not so much the re-working of familiar tunes. Disc one was done in one take just before she performed at the Glastonbury Festival, but save the live band, there is really no difference from her studio versions, except for “Army of Me.”

Disc two is where Voltaic comes alive, especially with “Jóga,” “Where is the Line” and “Hyperballad.” The last five selections of the Reykjavik footage are impressive.

All in all, this is a Björk fan’s dream, especially if they weren’t able to witness the Volta tour in person.
