For those who haven’t had the opportunity to attend a live Maná show, here is your chance. Directed by Adrian Zurita, the DVD is in six parts and focuses on the band’s 2002-2003 world tour.

The concert segment opens up to an enthusiastic crowd welcoming the band by providing deafening sounds and waving their respective country’s flag. Wherever they go – be it Miami, Brazil or their native Mexico – lead singer Fher Olvera, drummer Alex González, guitarist Sergio Vallín and bassist Juan Calleros are made to feel at home.

The good thing about this nearly two-hour documentary is that you feel like you’re in the crowd, whether the show’s in Spain, Brazil or Puerto Rico. The bad thing is that it’s hard to tell which country you’re actually in. Zurita’s quick cutting and pasting of different shows makes it hard to follow where Maná truly is and sometimes the sound quality isn’t up to standard. If you can overlook faux pas such as these, however, you won’t regret the ride.

Fans can peek in the forbidden “VIP” section, which provides some G-rated groupie love and shows the band’s love for alcohol and smashing mirrors. Along with the naughty, Maná shows their serious sides by displaying their sincere involvement in environmental causes.

Maná is a rock band with a conscious and a heart. They not only entertain their fans and have an unabashed good time behind closed doors, but they remind us of what’s important without being preachy. It’s their obvious passion for music and the world that makes them a kick-ass band.
