Hotwire, a Harvey and Eisner-nominated anthology, returns for its third installment. The styles and genres span a wide spectrum, but lean toward the surreal and blackly comic. The oversized 9x12 format allows your eyes to really take in the trippy artwork.
Among the highlights are: “Spike” by Tim Lane (Abandoned Cars), a portrait of a young freight hopper who gets a frightening look at the life. “Roadside Hell,” by Mack White, is a disturbing, far-out metaphysical horror tale with echoes of Grant Morrison, set at a drive-in theater taken over by a cult that makes sacrifices to the Galactic Overmind.
