Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “South Pacific” is a classic. If you don’t see it for the unforgettable songs – “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Bali Ha’i,” ‘Younger Than Springtime” – then go for the eye-popping ensemble numbers (i.e., “There is Nothing Like a Dame”) and quirky characters, like Luther Billis (my personal favorite, played by Matthew Saldivar) and Bloody Mary (Keala Settle). Set sail for a whole lotta fun!
Ahmanson Theatre is located at 135 N. Grand Ave., Los Angeles. For more information, visit centertheatregroup.org.
