For 20-odd years, self-taught artist Adam Hughes has been creating eye-catching covers for various DC comic titles. This oversized hardcover edition collects the best of them, along with alternate covers, concept brainstorms, character sketches and designs for statuettes.

As well as a brief autobiographical introduction, Hughes provides self-deprecating commentary opposite each cover. The book is arranged chronologically, from his admitted unremarkable beginnings with Justice League to coming into his own with Wonder Woman and really hitting his stride with Catwoman.

It’s no accident that most of Hughes’ work is with female characters. He definitely has a way with the female form, consistently dishing up alluring covers any comic geek would be helpless to resist.

It’s a beautifully presented collection for fans of comic art.
