Acclaimed chef Mario Batali and his business partner have settled a lawsuit, agreeing to pay a reported $5.25 million to over 1,000 workers after they deducted 4 to 5 percent from the tip pool at the end of each night at their restaurants. According to court papers filed in a Manhattan, New York, federal court, the settlement may compensate waiters, captains and other staffers.
