Big things keep happening for Colorado-based producer Alex Botwin.
The Pnuma Trio member started his own record label/design firm/retail store, ELM & OAK, in the last year and just curated his first big event, Levitate Festival, starring Rusko, DJ Shadow, Pictureplan and his very own Paper Diamond project.
Now, he’s got a brand-new, three-song E.P. on Diplo’s Mad Decent/Jeffrees imprint that will open your ears and move your feet from start to finish.
Wavesight kicks off with a funky, soulful tune, “Turn The Lights Off,” featuring New Orleanian singer-songwriter Nasimiyu, and transitions into a mix of heavy synths and bouncy beats on “Airlift,” much like we heard on Paper Diamond’s debut release, Levitate. His latest hit single, “Can We Go Up?” closes out the E.P. with a bang, though it’s hard to know where the 16-month-old project is headed after only three tracks.
Still, nothing is slowing down Botwin lately.
With a spring and summer tour planned that includes stops at Wakarusa Music Festival, Starscape Festival, Electric Forest and Lollapalooza, Paper Diamond continues to captivate large audiences across the country while working with acclaimed artists, singers, rappers and MCs in the studio.
Botwin may be living life in the fast lane these days, but he sure doesn’t mind.
