For three nights only, L.A.’s Chinatown Summer Nights is back with a bang this year. Put on by L.A. Chinatown and Santa Monica-based radio station KCRW 89.9, this is the summer party you don’t want to miss. The event combines food, music and interactive workshops for the ultimate cultural experience. Take a bite out of Chinese culture from the assortment of Chinese restaurants and local bars that will be open during the event. L.A.’s top gourmet food trucks will also be present, ready to feed the rush of hungry customers, and beer enthusiasts can rejoice at the craft beer garden located just at Central Plaza.
You can then dance the calories away to beats put on by KCRW DJs Jason Bentley, Anthony Valadez, Jeremy Sole and Valida & Aaron Byrd. Or check out the local shops and galleries, which will be open and free to check out during the festivities. There will also be a section from the L.A. Craft Experience, which showcases jewelry and hand-made crafts from local vendors.
Large-scale video projections and interactive movement workshops, including live painting, make this a great event for families. There will also be live cooking demonstrations put on by Chinese chefs.
Last year’s event also included traditional Chinese dragon dancing, a ping-pong tournament, martial arts and even fire dancing. And the best part about this event? It’s absolutely FREE. Be sure to bring some extra bucks to nom on all the delicious food though. So grab your friends and family and indulge in one of L.A.’s best summer parties this year.
Chinatown Summer Nights will be held from 5 p.m. to midnight on three summer nights only: July 28, August 11 and August 25. For more information, go to chinatownsummernights.com.
