Manhunt for Gun-firing Attacker Backs up L.A. Traffic

Early this morning, a gun-wielding assailant shot at two burglary detectives outside of the Wilshire Police Department. The gunman, who dealt only minor injuries to the detectives, escaped the scene. Now, LAPD, SWAT and helicopters are scouring the Mid-City neighborhood forcing severe traffic congestion. The search is taking place in a 25-square-block area surrounding the Wilshire Police Department. Closures can be expected on Venice Boulevaard and La Brea Avenue, although a sluggish pace is certain throughout the whole Mid-City area.
