According to a recent study in the Journal of Sex Research, those one-night stands in college can eventually come back to bite students in the butt. The study states that students who admitted to frequent casual sex had dramatically higher signs of low self-esteem, low life satisfaction and low levels of happiness. Predictably, the level of distress in college women as a result of excessive hooking up was almost double that of their male peers. Researchers are left with one question: are these students depressed and unhappy because they frequently hook up, or are their mental illness flaws the reason they seek out casual sex?
