After much anticipation, summer’s biggest TV event has arrived; Shark Week is finally here! While some of you have probably already locked yourselves in your apartments for the non-stop marathon of all things shark related, Campus Circle has assembled a guide to help you make the most of this Shark Week! Keep reading to discover the best ways to celebrate Jaws and friends in Southern Cal.

Best Beach: Huntington Beach
Also known as Surf City, this beach is the perfect place to embrace your love for the ocean, catch some killer waves and potentially spot a shark or two. Just this past June, fishermen caught a 12-foot-long, 1,300-plus-pound mako shark right off the coast of this beach, making Huntington extremely appropriate for this week’s festivities.

Best Eats: Cinco
This Mexican restaurant is a huge fan of Shark Week and to celebrate, it is offering an awesome special all week long! Cinco is selling two Mahi or Shrimp Tacos with a Tiki Tiburon (their rum and pineapple cocktail) for $15. That’s a deal I can’t wait to sink my teeth into.

Best Drinks: Baja Sharkeez
This Mexican bar and grill has a happy hour that no one could refuse. Monday through Friday, if you buy any drink of any size from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., you get another drink for 25 cents. I repeat: your second drink is 25 cents during happy hour! If you are going with a group of friends, order a Shark bowl to share, and let the games begin.

Best Dessert: Cold Stone Creamery
Cold Stone has partnered with the Discovery Channel to create delicious frozen treats all week in honor of our sharp-tooth friends. Dig in to the “Shark Week Frenzy” ice cream or the “This Cake Bites” ice cream cake. No need to be afraid of these sharks, they’re made of gummies!

Best Style: TOMS
TOMS also collaborated with the Discovery Channel and released limited edition Shark Week TOMS. Yes, you read that right; you can now wear sharks on your feet! Even better, $5 per pair will be donated to the largest ocean conservation organization in the world, in addition to the pair of shoes that TOMS already donates to a child in need after your purchase. Looks like sharks aren’t so bad after all.

Hopefully with these inside tips, you will have an incredible and memorable Shark Week. And remember, fish are friends, not food.
