Los Angeles city Councilman Bob Blumenfield has proposed that the city give all of its citizens free Wi-Fi. He sent a statement to LA Weekly and other news outlets:

"Expanding access to WiFi will benefit our City in numerous ways, from helping to close the digital divide for students to reducing start-up costs for new businesses. Today we've taken the first next steps towards reaching that goal."

Other cities that provide its citizens with free Wi-Fi include San Jose, Houston and Minneapolis.
