If you've been freaking out because you're having trouble sending and/or receiving iMessages on your iPhone, DON'T - you're not the only one, and Apple is working to fix this problem.

Apple said that the issue affects a fraction of a percent (in other words, a very, very small number) of users, and the company will have a solution to this problem in a future software update. This infers that the bug is in the iOS software, not on Apple's server. Here is Apple's official statement:

"We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update. In the meantime, we encourage any users having problems to reference our troubleshooting documents or contact AppleCare to help resolve their issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users."
