Some people will even replace a traditional meal with just a little a bar, especially those who are looking for healthier food options such as protein substitutes. Some bars can be high in nutrition, but they can also be high in calories. In fact, it's argued that they are no different than fast food; they're just smaller, easier to pack and last a long time.

It's evident that bars are forming their own food group. The bar industry has earned $5.7 billion in 2011 and is still growing.
