In addition to causing possible nose bleeds, strokes and more, cocaine can put you in danger of contracting HIV. UCLA researchers have discovered a link between cocaine and HIV, making those who use the drug and practice unsafe sex at risk for developing the disease.
According to their findings, using cocaine can prime your body for the virus by weakening the cells that are a natural defense against HIV. One researcher said that although the change in the cells was minimal, cocaine use can increase the "pool of T cells in the human body that can become infected by the virus."
