Blumhouse Productions is no stranger to putting on frightening, interactive Halloween experiences. Last year, the Blumhouse of Horrors created a haunted house that was filled with 40 actors, terrifying sights, smells and sounds. This year, they bring you "The Purge: Fear the Night" at the Variety Arts Theater.

If you were a fan of this year's disturbing thriller The Purge (a film set in 2022 where the United States has allowed all citizens to partake in any crime without consequences once a year during a 12-hour time period), you will probably enjoy this new horrific attraction that is sure to be a hit this Halloween season.

Jason Blum, who was one of the producers on The Purge film, has created an immersive part-haunted house, part-theater that makes you part of the action. Don't expect monsters or zombies to jump out at you like at other typical haunted houses -- this experience is far more creative. "The Purge: Fear the Night" is based on The Purge and puts guests in a very realistic world where "real people [are] doing some crazy, bad things."

Audience members must be 18 or older to experience "The Purge: Fear the Night," which takes place on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with expanded shows during Halloween week. There are eight arrival times per evening: 7:15 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 7:45 p.m., 8 p.m., 10 p.m., 10:15 p.m., 10:30 p.m., 10:45 p.m., and you must attend your ticketed time. Tickets start at $39.

For those who haven't seen The Purge, don't fret. This event will still be very enjoyable...and terrifying.
