Nothing beats warm drinks on a chilly day and maybe a sweet treat or quick meal to accompany the drink. Los Angeles is filled with various cafés. Read what this city has to offer!

Café Gratitude
639 Larchmont Blvd.
Los Angeles 90004

With interesting dish names such as Bright-Eyed (a cereal blend of coconut milk, pecans, seasonal fruit, vanilla and cinnamon) and Grounded (roasted potatoes with your pick of spicy nacho cheese or chipotle ketchup), this place is quite a surprise, especially since they don’t have any meat on the menu. Café Gratitude is a vegan and raw café, but their dishes are protein-loaded and will fill you up so you won’t even miss the meat. They serve organic teas and coffees along with beers, juices and smoothies. Their desserts are made fresh every day, so ask to see what’s available on the day you visit.

Blu Jam Café
7371 Melrose Ave.
Los Angeles 90046

This is the perfect place for breakfast or brunch. The menu is quite extensive, ranging from dishes such as egg benedicts and French toast to gourmet sandwiches and burgers. For sweets, ask the server what treats the café has that day. The drink list includes coffee, lattes, tea blends and juices. My favorite is the White Peach Tea, which they serve in a pot with flowers and tealeaves. You pour it into your cup and sip the day away. There are vegetarian and gluten-free options available as well.

Café Dulce
134 Japanese Village P/2 Bldg. E
Los Angeles 90012

For sandwiches, try the Spicy Korean Cheesesteak and Honey Glazed Spicy Chicken at this Little Tokyo Café. There are non-spicy options also, such as the Pesto Chicken and Apple Tuna sandwiches. Café Dulce’s main attraction, however, is the dessert menu; this café is seriously full of sweets! Walk in and see all of their goods: blueberry roti buns, green tea and bacon donuts. Their colorful Pebbles cereal-covered donut holes are even sweeter. I’ve also heard their coffees are quite exceptional. They even have interesting teas, including the Organic White Pomegranate and Japan Pineapple Papaya teas.

Urth Caffe
Various locations in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Downtown L.A.

With various locations available, Urth Caffe is no stranger to coffee lovers. They have such a great list of hot, iced and blended drinks that it can be hard to choose what you want! If you order a latte, you may get surprise latte art in your foam. I always order the Iced Spanish Granita Latte; it’s creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. I hear the hot version is equally delicious! Depending on the location, Urth Caffe’s menu will have different single-serving dishes such as pizza and quiche. During this fall season, they have yummy fall-appropriate treats, including pumpkin pie and apple pie. You can also preorder for pick-ups.

Lady Chocolatt Café
12008 Wilshire Blvd., #101
Los Angeles 90025

This café is literally full of chocolate. It’s the perfect café for coffee and sweet chocolate treats to satisfy your chocolate craving or pick out some pieces as gifts for your friends or family. However, don’t let the chocolate grab all of your attention; Lady Chocolatt Café also serves Belgian waffles with your choice of syrups and ice cream. If coffee is not your thing, they have a list of different kinds of hot chocolate for cold days and fruit or ice cream-blended drinks for warm days. Whether it’s hot or cold outside, cafés are the best places to wind down while sipping teas or coffees and munching on sweets or hearty meals. You can enjoy these places by yourself or share some snacks with friends. Just make sure you check the hours because some cafés close early!
