The word "free" is like sweet harmony to most college students' ears. With many on an annoyingly restrictive college budget, it's hard for students to venture out and experience beautiful art and history at places such as the Getty Villa.

To encourage students to come out and enjoy this museum, the Getty Villa (not be confused with the Getty Center) is hosting its annual "College Night" on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Local students need only to reserve a ticket by calling 310-440-7300 (or clicking here) in order to gain free admission and free parking to the Getty Villa on "College Night."

The Getty will be putting on special tours and other activities. The museum would like students to dress up in a toga as they explore the museum's Greek and Roman antiquities (the Getty Villa is a recreation of a Roman country house). There will be talks led by curators and conservators, drawing sessions and art demonstrations, and photo opportunities with Roman and ancient Persian reenactors. Students can also indulge in DJ sets by Trackstars, free food and drinks, plus a cash bar for anyone 21 years old and older.

Visiting the Getty Villa is like an Angeleno rite of passage, so don't miss out on this opportunity to do it for free.

The Getty Villa is located at 17985 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, Calif.
