Students are becoming more progressive nowadays. However, some groups of student "progressives" do not display tolerance or open-mindfulness. Instead, they show “illiberalism.” These students will go as far as to shut down events or prevent guest speakers from presenting because these students disagree with their views.

For example, a recent incident at Brown University included a group of student protesters that would not allow NYC Police Commissioner Ray Kelly speak about  the city’s “stop and frisk” policy. This led the university to cancel the speech.

Some argue that these student “progressives” are practicing free speech; however, they are also preventing others from stating their own opinions.
