Bringing awareness to mental health issues, the Depressed Cake Shop will be selling gray-color themed cakes and baked goods with "pops of color" in Venice at the St. Joseph Center on Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14.

Proceeds from the sales will go to the St. Joseph Center and NAMI Westside, the Los Angeles chapter.

Customers can get their hands on cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, whole cakes, macaroons and other treats at the pop-up bakery, which aims to powerfully demonstrate the effects of depression with the baked goods. Many of the bakers use baking to manage their own mental illness and joy, and find creative ways to visually represent what mental illness means to them.

The Depressed Cake Shop will be open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 and from 10 a.m. until the last cake is sold on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the St. Joseph Center (204 Hampton Drive, Venice).
