Russell Brand has always had a sort of "bad boy" reputation, but this latest news makes him seem downright mean.
The British actor was a guest speaker at Cambridge University Monday night where he reportedly told some students to "shut up" and called them "Harry Potter p**fs," according to Eonline. P**fs is a British derogatory anti-gay slur used for homosexual men.
Although Brand might have said it jokingly, LGBT members at the university didn't find it funny. At all.
CUSU LGBT rep. Charlie Bell reportedly said, "It was a bit of a shock to hear that the word p--f is considered an appropriate term to level as an insult, especially by someone like Brand, who models himself as the very model of a modern liberal...He should apologise unreservedly and immediately."
