At Arena Cinema, you won't find massive movie screens, theaters that seat 200 people or giant popcorn buckets and soda cups. Instead, this charmingly dashing, '70s-style theatre hidden in the heart of Hollywood Boulevard dips below the radar, providing a low-key and intimate setting perfect for any independent film lover.

Originally part of the historic Egyptian Theatre that sits next door, Arena Cinema has taken roots of its own, quickly becoming L.A.'s indie oasis.

In an effort to bring back the sincerity of moviegoing past, Voltaire Media in conjunction with Theatre of Arts reopened the 42-year-old cinema in 2010, completely revamping its digital projection and presentation, while holding onto its timeless architecture.

With $5 parking on site and tickets as cheap as $12, catching an amazing independent film has become easier than ever. Not to mention, its genuine feel and flow provide a great atmosphere for a date night. A secret society of sorts, Arena’s stunning decadence and artsy vibe make a night out at the theatre a truly unforgettable experience.

Cast and crew Q&A’s happen every weekend. There are also karaoke after-party buses, and the occasional "big name" box office star might sneakily sit next to you!

Outside the theater is a vibrant nightlife. Great bars and restaurants, including Little Fork, Musso and Frank Grill, Sadie’s, Loteria Grill, Pig N’ Whistle, Supperclub and Playhouse, align the adjacent streets, allowing you to have an eventful night out with friends.

It’s safe to say the days of the mega-movie experience are slowly fading behind us. Places like Arena Cinema are stepping up, bringing beauty, culture, history and a good time under one roof.

It's a must-visit theatre for any film lover.
