Southern California schools UCLA and Caltech made into the top 10 on the Times Higher Education World Reputation Ranking, reports LA Weekly.

Caltech came in ninth, and UCLA came in at No. 10.

According to its website, the publication used the "world's largest invitation-only academic opinion survey to provide the definitive list of the top 100 most powerful global university brands." It's subjective judgment, but it is still "considered expert judgement of senior, published academics."

No. 1 on the list was Harvard, followed by MIT, Stanford, the University of Cambridge (U.K.) and the University of Oxford (U.K.).

Meanwhile, on the other side of town in L.A., USC sits tied in the 61-70 bracket...
