Kentucky State University's president, Raymond Burse, decided to take one for the team and decrease his ridiculously high salary of $349,869 to $259,745 to lend a helping hand to the low-income workers who earn much less than him.

According to WLKY, 24 employees will be given a raise from the state’s minimum wage of $7.25 an hour to $10.25. If you calculate the math correctly, you will realize how much of a difference $3 can make.

Burse claims to the Lexington Herald-Leader “this is not a publicity stunt; I did this for the people. This is something I’ve been thinking about from the very beginning.”

Fortunately, the pay raise will remain for the employees even after Burse is no longer president and will be the new starting rate for each new hire as well.
