Los Angeles' forecast for this week may include temperatures in the mid-70s to low-80s, but make no mistake: snow season is here!

Southern California's ski season officially kicks off Tuesday (Nov. 25) with the opening of Mountain High, the closest winter resort located just an hour and a half from Los Angeles and Orange County. The resort's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with temperatures ranging from the high-30s to low-50s.

Over the past few days, the Wrightwood resort was able to put down 12 inches of new snow.  "We've added several new snow-making guns, our season pass is doing very well, and, with the hopes of a little El Nino snow, the stage is set for a great season," said general manager Ben Smith.

Mountain High's operating hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thanksgiving. Night skiing and Tubing Park operations will be evaluated after that.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, there's also a Black Friday Special that doesn't require you to wake up before the crack of dawn. From Nov. 28 to Dec. 1, you can save up to 40 percent on lift tickets to Mountain High.
