I know that Dax Riggs and Tessie Brunet, a.k.a. Deadboy & the Elephantmen, probably aren’t bloodsuckers. But this is vampire rock, baby!

Part of the duo’s moniker includes the word ‘deadboy’ and the lead song on the disc is called “Stop, I’m Already Dead.” Any other clues, besides the songs “Blood Music” and “Evil Friend” and the medieval scene on the CD cover? The picture of a pasty-faced Riggs?

The band has whipped up quite an image – they don’t want to be confused with the White Stripes just because they have a humble guy-on-guitar, girl-on-drums line-up. Lots of ominous Goth (and glam-rock) overtones to songs like “Misadventures of Dope” but the pair also pushes the plasma on the acoustic “Walking Stick.”

Don’t worry if these two fly in your window and head straight for your neck. It’s more than a fair trade.
