To tip-off the start of summer and WNBA basketball, the LA Sparks are hosting a free #WeAreLA Block Party, presented by EquiTrust, CJ by Cookie Johnson and California Mentor, for the Los Angeles community on Thursday, June 4 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm in front of STAPLES Center on Chick Hearn Drive.

The #WeAreLA Block Party will be a four-hour celebration – LA style – packed with live music and dancing, carnival-style games for fans of all ages and much-much more. Sparks players including Nneka Ogwumike, Jantel Lavender, Erin Phillips and Alana Beard and head coach Brian Agler will sign autographs and meet fans at the #WeAreLA Block Party.

Everyone in attendance will get their first glimpse of the Sparks energetic and eclectic in-game entertainment crews, all performing live throughout the party on the Sparks stage. The popular Ole Skool Crew and SparKids dancers will take the stage as well as the newest team of hip-hop and break dancers, the Sparks Crew, showcasing their talents for the crowd. Singer and songwriter Eddie Gomez and in-arena entertainer, DJ Mal-Ski, will be on hand to keep the party spinning from start to finish.

The free #WeAreLA Block Party is open to fans of all ages, with plenty of entertainment for kids including: face-painters, balloon artists, stunts by the BMX Crew and of course, everyone’s favorite mascot, Sparky, will be on site. As part of the WNBA’s Cares Week, the team will also host a literacy awareness event with local authors sharing their stories and leading kids in writing and drawing exercises. There’s something for everyone with more surprises to be announced, including a special headliner for the party.
